: ̗̀➛Representation of social groups
AGE::
Youth / Young Adults
The son represents young people who experience emotional repression, generational conflict, and a lack of support for personal ambition. His character is shown sympathetically through close-ups, handheld camera movement, and isolated framing, positioning him as vulnerable rather than rebellious or reckless. This challenges common media representations of youth as irresponsible or dangerous, instead portraying him as emotionally exposed and misunderstood.
Common characteristics we see in teenagers are
-Desire for freedom
-Exploring new things/ being curious
-While trying to find themselves, can be seen as rebbelious or even careless
-In media they are shown as impulsive and thats something we show in our movie
Middle-Aged Working-Class Men / Fathers
The father represents a socially traditional, emotionally reserved adult male figure. His reliance on alcohol and passive behaviour following the argument reflects internalised frustration and regret rather than villainy. Static shots, muted lighting, and having a short temper portray him as emotionally stagnant, reinforcing themes of generational disconnect and suppressed masculinity without demonising the character.
They commonly show the following characteristics
-Rigid in their beliefes
-Displacing frustration
-In media theyre represented as tough, traditional and often having the tough guy mask when in reality they do care even if they might not show it.
Single Parent
Especially men have relatively the same sort of charcteristics as we found but with some sligh changes like
-Pressure to remain strong for their child, this can sometimes lead to not being properly able to show love for their child
-Having to re learn how to become more emotionally open
Showing a single parent also having working class middle aged men features, we also had to show how these roles intertwined. How he had to take the role of a mother which is caring, loving, being emotionally available but also showing how he was the provider and him being emotionally available isnt a type of characteristic typically shown in these types of roles
