Selecting actors for the final cut
We had decided we wanted a younger person to portray the role of the son, so firstly we looked at our immediate families, and we figured out since we're doing the project at Rajas' house, it would be best we take someone from his family, and so we gave the role of the son to his younger cousin, whom we thought could fit really well into the character and the type of vibe we wanted to give him. From the start I had the picture of the father in my mind as unkempt-bearded, long-haired, wearing traditional Pakistani clothes, along with having some weight to them with a deep voice and rigid way of speaking. Raja's brother was the absolute perfect fit for him. We already had decided that these people fit the characters the most, and it would be a lot easier to work with them since they were our teammates' family, and we wouldn't have to worry about timing and formality between us and the actors.
The villain not having any dialogues or upfront movement, we decided to go with me to act for the villain. Since we were looking for someone tall, the difference in height between the son and the villain in their encounter would give a more menacing sort of aesthetic to the villain.
Lastly, of who we wanted the newscaster to be. For this we did auditions; we took auditions from one of our batch mates, one of Bilal's friends Muhammed, and Bilal himself, and finally we decided to go with a voice-over from Bilal, as we thought his audition was the best out of the 3.
